Maison Emmanuel is modelled on "Camphill Communities" existing worldwide. The Camphill Movement, which was founded in 1939, endeavours to create communities in which children and adults with special needs, can live, learn and work with others in healthy social relationships based on mutual care and respect.
Approximately 90 Camphill Communities exist worldwide, they are recognized by the respective Governments as viable alternatives to institutional care. "Camphill" is inspired by Christian ideals as articulated by Rudolf Steiner and recognises the spiritual uniqueness of each human being regardless of disability and religious or racial background.
